Boris Johnson Wins Personality Of The Year

Mayor of London Boris Johnson scooped Personality of the Year gong at the inaugural CITY AM awards last night.

Boris Johnson won the award by a unanimous vote from the judges due to repeatedly speaking out as an advocate for London's financial services community, at a particularly tough time for the industry. The judges also recognised him as a "wild personality, larger than life, and an excellent speaker".

The awards, hosted by daily business newspaper CITY AM, were held at Grange St Paul's Hotel, London and have been launched to recognise those who have helped position The City of London at the centre of the world's financial markets.

Amongst the judges were City AM's editor Allister Heath and deputy editor David Hellier alongside Simon Dingemans, head of European M&A at Goldman Sachs, John Moulton, founder of Better Capital, Truett Tate, executive director Lloyds Banking Group and Alison Carnwath, chair, Land Securities and non-executive director of Barclays.

Other winners included Burberry for Company of the Year due to CEO Angela Ahrendts' impressive leadership and JP Morgan Cazenove which won Investment Bank of the Year due to the levels of extremely strong performance throughout the bank whose influence was felt across almost all of the major deals of the year.
