Boston Exit Planning Exchange (XPX) Introduces the Owner's Academy
Inaugural Event, at Babson College, Will Focus on Strategies for Converting Business Value into Tangible Wealth
Online, October 26, 2010 (Newswire.com) - Exit Planning Exchange (XPX) Boston is pleased to introduce the Owner's Academy, a new initiative designed to provide entrepreneurs opportunities for rigorous learning, professional advice, and dynamic dialog about strategies for converting the value of a business into tangible wealth.
Held at Babson College and supported by The Boston Exit Planning Exchange, the Owner's Academy will include events, a "best practices" curriculum, and access to a network of experts. The Owner's Academy will host its first event on October 26, 2010, and this inaugural session will examine how the strategic engagement of outside, trusted advisors and peer relationships can mean the critical difference between success and failure in determining the value of a business.
According to the Exit Planning Institute, 80% of U.S. private business owners' personal wealth is tied up in their businesses, and 65% of all business owners don't know the value of their business.
"Entrepreneurs and private business owners are a special breed who can spend years building a business, only to come up short when the time comes to convert that value into tangible wealth," says Daniel Guglielmo, Chairman and co-Founder of XPX. "The Owner's Academy is founded on the premise that owners want results; they want action and learning to sharpen their edge and ultimately achieve their goals."
Attendees at the October 26th forum will join a discussion led by Scott Wakeman, Partner, Family Navigation Strategies and Andrew Crain, Investment Banker, Briggs Capital LLC, both former owners who sold their family businesses and now advise owners.
Commenting on the idea, business owner Bill Bither, CEO and Founder of Atalasoft, of Easthampton, MA, says, "I am looking forward to participating in the Owner's Academy after 10 years of building a successful organization because it offers the opportunity to view my business with fresh eyes and the insights of professionals who truly understand valuation."
Joe Bodio, President and Founder of Lan-Tel Communications, Norwood, MA, says, "As a business owner of 19 years, I am joining the Owner's Academy inaugural event because I am looking for a sounding board to discuss exit strategies. When the time comes for an exit, I want to be prepared with a plan that benefits from the best thinking, and that's what the Owner's Academy is designed to do."
The Owner's Academy emerges from and is supported by The Boston Exit Planning Exchange, a professional association committed to empowering the business owner's team of trusted advisors to be more collectively effective in their service to owners. The Owner's Academy introduces owners to a curriculum of "best practices," which is gathered and organized by the multi-disciplinary practitioners in XPX Boston.
The October 26th event will be held from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. in Olin Hall Needham/Wellesley Room, Wellesley, MA. Events will be held quarterly at Babson College and produced by XPX Boston.
