Extraordinary eggs on the menu at 21 top restaurants January 25-26th

When chefs at Boston's leading restaurants serve their special Super Hunger Brunch meals next weekend to benefit the Greater Boston Food Bank, they'll have an extra batch of extraordinary eggs to crack into. Along with Carol's beautiful Blue Heirloom eggs that are donated every year to the event, participating chefs will also find new Carol's Pasture-Raised Organic Eggs in their baskets.

"We couldn't think of a better cause, or a better venue, to introduce folks to these truly special eggs," explains Jesse Laflamme, Chief Executive Farmer at Pete and Gerry's Organic Eggs, parent company for Carol's. "We can't wait to see what these talented chefs can do with them!"

Gathered from small flocks on small New England family farms, Carol's eggs are a breed apart from the ordinary. The brainchild of Jesse's mother Carol Laflamme—a lifelong egg farmer--the small-scale farms "help give young farmers a chance to thrive, in a field too often dominated by giant corporate egg farms," she explains.

Carol's eggs also feature old-fashioned characteristics chefs clamor for:
- New Pasture-Raised Organic Eggs have distinctive flavors unique to each farm that link them to the land they come from.
- Heirloom Blue Eggs from prized Ameraucana hens have slate-blue shells and rich golden yolks.

Carol's Pasture-Raised Organic Eggs and Carol's Cage-Free Heirloom Eggs are making their debut at Super Hunger Brunch and will be coming soon to selected supermarkets and natural food stores throughout New England.

The Super Hunger Brunch, now in its 32nd year, teams up with celebrated Boston chefs and restaurants to offer set brunch menus for $25-$50, with all proceeds going to the Greater Boston Food Bank. Pete and Gerry's is a longtime supporter of the event, which last year raised nearly $65,000—enough to provide 150,000 meals. This year every $1 spent will donate 3 nutritious meals to people in need. Visit the website for more details.
