Bouncetown Becomes Certified Autism Center

First organization of its kind to earn certification

Bouncetown

Bouncetown has completed the process of becoming a Certified Autism Center, which is a designation that demonstrates the organization’s commitment to ensuring guests and families with children who have autism have the best possible experience. This is the first organization of its kind to earn the CAC designation.  Bouncetown implemented the CAC program, which requires staff training and certification through the International Board of Credentialing and Continuing Education Standards (IBCCES), to further their goal to be inclusive of all families and children.

Parents with children on the autism spectrum often find experiencing new activities to be a challenge due to sensory needs and safety concerns. As a Certified Autism Center, guests can rest assured staff is prepared to welcome everyone, regardless of their needs.

We are an inclusive facility and we want families to see our sincerity in providing an inclusive space where everyone can come together and play regardless of their physical or mental abilities.

“We are an inclusive facility and we want families to see our sincerity in providing an inclusive space where everyone can come together and play regardless of their physical or mental abilities,” said Dana Coles, owner of Bouncetown.

For almost 20 years, IBCCES has been the industry leader in autism training for healthcare, education and corporate professionals around the globe. IBCCES recognized that many families with children with special needs have limited travel and entertainment options and created programs specifically for those industries. In recent years, the popularity of “autism-friendly” options has grown; however, parents and families often seek out organizations that have completed additional research-based training or certification to ensure their needs can be met.

In addition to the CAC training and certification, Bouncetown also hosts monthly dance parties for ages 14 and up, with available quiet space for participants to play board games or engage in quiet activities, along with field trips and specially scheduled “Sensory Storytimes.” Bouncetown also provides staff assistance at celebrations or special events. Adults can access the play equipment along with their child if they need assistance and there are quiet areas available to access if needed.

"Our Certified Autism Center designation is awarded to premier organizations who have gone above and beyond to ensure their guests have the best experience possible. Ensuring that families and individuals on the spectrum have trained and certified options is our mission and we’re so happy to work with Bouncetown towards this mission,” said Myron Pincomb, IBCCES board chairman.

IBCCES also created AutismTravel.com, a free online resource for parents that lists certified destinations and connects families to other resources and each other. Each destination or attraction listed on the site has met Certified Autism Center requirements, which include extensive staff training conducted by leading autism experts. Bouncetown will also be listed with other CACs on AutismMember.org, a partnership between IBCCES and Autism Society, to connect families and individuals with businesses and resources committed to serving individuals on the spectrum.
