Brandon Frere: Time is an Entrepreneur's Most Valuable Resource; Determine Its Worth Accordingly

Time Management

What’s the true value of time and how should time devoted to various business activities be spent to maximize the value of it? Many entrepreneurs end up undervaluing or underestimating their time, but this can be a costly mistake. Time is a limited resource; once it's gone, it can't be replaced or regenerated. This makes how an entrepreneur divides their time crucial and can significantly impact their ability to run a successful business. In addition, knowing what time is worth can greatly impact whether or not an entrepreneur receives equitable compensation for products or services rendered. Brandon Frere, entrepreneur and CEO of several ventures, says that establishing a value of time is a necessary step in the business process in order to maximize a company's success.

"As an entrepreneur, you're not just spending time running your business, you're investing in it," said Frere. "You want your time to have a high return on investment." Many entrepreneurs have a couple things they're truly exceptional at. Identifying these strengths can also help determine where their energies are best focused. Is it worthwhile for an entrepreneur to spend all day in meetings? Perhaps, depending on what the industry is or how the entrepreneur is running the company, but their time may be more useful elsewhere. When an entrepreneur is able to focus on their core competencies, they'll be able to have a more time-efficient and productive workday.

As an entrepreneur, you're not just spending time running your business, you're investing in it.

In figuring out how time is best spent, an entrepreneur should also look closely at the business activities they do daily. Are there any ways to cut down on time to maximize the hours in the day? Which systems and processes can be pared down or thrown out altogether? What works and what doesn’t? Are there tasks that can easily be delegated? While it may be hard for some entrepreneurs to relinquish control over tasks they do daily, it's important for them to evaluate if their time could be better spent on higher-level tasks that drive the company forward. "Know what your own time is worth. It’s your most valuable resource," said Frere. "Don't sell yourself or your business short."

About Brandon Frere

Brandon Frere is an entrepreneur and businessman who lives in Sonoma County, California. He has designed and created multiple companies to meet the ever-demanding needs of businesses and consumers alike. His website, www.BrandonFrere.com, is used as a means of communicating many of the lessons, fundamentals and information that he has learned throughout his extensive business and personal endeavors, most recently in advocating on behalf of student loan borrowers nationwide.

As experienced during his own student loan repayment, Mr. Frere found out how difficult it can be to work with federally contracted student loan servicers and the repayment programs designed to help borrowers. Through those efforts, he gained an insider’s look into the repayment process and the motivations behind the inflating student loan debt bubble. His knowledge of the often confusing landscape of student loan repayment became a vital theme in his future endeavors, and he now uses those experiences to help guide others through the daunting process of applying for available federal repayment and loan forgiveness programs.
