Poor weather conditions, such as heavy rain, can lead to increased accidents. One of the single most helpful things you can do to protect yourself and those you love while driving on the road is to wear your seat belt. According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, wearing your seat belt reduces the risk of fatal injury by 45% and saved 13,250 lives in 2008.

In addition to saving lives, wearing a seat belt is the law in Florida. All those in the front seat must wear a seat belt. This law applies to any car manufactured since 1968. In addition, all passengers under 18 years old must wear a seat belt or be otherwise restrained by a child car seat. See Florida Statue §316.614 for details.
