Bringing Geniuses into Online Tutoring
Online, December 8, 2009 (Newswire.com) - Traditionally, the world of high-end, expensive private tutoring has had little overlap with the traditionally low cost online tutoring scene. Thus, most of the so-called "genius" private tutors, many of whom hold Ivy League degrees, have chosen to enter the former rather than the later scene. Today, Education4Sale.com set out to change that.
According to site co-founder Arvin Vohra, "The few hundred 'genius' tutors in America expect to control their own rates, work on their own terms, and make as much money tutoring as do lawyers or doctors. Education4Sale is the first online tutoring platform developed to attract the best and the brightest."
Education4Sale.com uses an ebay style rating system that allows educators to gradually build their reputation while helping students select the best and most reliable tutors. In addition, it uses an escrow-inspired payment method to allow safe transactions between tutors and students. According to Vohra, "We wanted to ensure that no educator or student would get swindled. Thus, students deposit funds before the tutoring starts, and release the funds once they are satisfied. If there is a disagreement, we provide arbitration."
Education4Sale.com allows both standard tutoring, which lasts for an hour or more, and microtutoring, in which an educator helps a student solve one or two problems. Arvin Vohra added, "Whether you need 3 hours or 3 minutes of private tutoring, Education4Sale will help you get it."
