Online, February 1, 2011 (Newswire.com) - Brisket Gaming (www.brisketgaming.com) is pleased to announce its first game, Orphic Wars, has been approved for download in the App Store. A trailer for Orphic Wars has also been posted on www.OrphicWars.com.
Available starting on February 3, 2011, Orphic Wars is a free strategic game that uses your real world GPS coordinates to capture land on a map. Single-player maps can be completed by capturing a share of the map and, once complete, will make your character's moves more powerful. Multiplayer battles are fought every-player-for-themselves or as team matches where the victor is determined by whomever captures more land.
"Games on the iPhone tend to be portable, meaning your game is always in your pocket but it doesn't change. We wanted to make a truly mobile game, where your location is the central piece of how you play," explained Ryan Garcia, CEO of Brisket Gaming. "We're huge fans of location services like fellow Austin company Gowalla, but we wanted to make a strategic game where you can show up in your friend's neighborhood and steal land from them.
"Games should be simple but have depth. Orphic Wars is played almost entirely with one button to keep it simple. But there are six different clans to choose from to give strategic players some depth in planning their moves. And, of course, games should be fun-which is why we have clans like Zombie Kittens and Ninja Deliverymen to choose from."
Orphic Wars players can set single-player challenges or multiplayer battles on maps as small as a neighborhood or as big as a continent or anywhere in-between. And multiplayer maps can also be played in the Afterlife, an innovative feature that allows players in different locations to play against each other in real-time. Individuals or teams can be based in San Francisco, Tokyo, London, or New York and all play against each other.
Orphic Wars will be available in Apple's app store starting February 3, 2011.
