British Gas Criticised Over Insulation Lobbying - Knuaf Insulation UK

Online, December 11, 2013 (Newswire.com) - British Gas (BG) has been criticised by its peers for what has been perceived as lack of support for the solid wall insulation sector in the UK as a result of its constant lobbying to reduce installation targets.

The company failed to meet its recent targets for the provision of home insulation upgrades for vulnerable properties and as such, has now been lobbying Westminster to reduce its future commitments for the delivery of solid wall improvements.

However, BG's rivals claim the energy provider could be placing more than 10,000 jobs at risk by failing to effectively carry out its solid wall obligations in line with the rest of the sector.

BBC News reports an internal government memo from the Department of Energy and Climate Change stated: "The reality is that BG have inflated their estimates of costs and this can be shown when comparing to others. They have been blaming increases in costs on government consistently, when this is not true."
