British owned Maytech to launch FTP service in China
Maytech is literally speaking the same language as potential new customers by launching a Mandarin version of its FTP hosting service in China.
Online, July 13, 2010 (Newswire.com) - Maytech is literally speaking the same language as potential new customers by launching a Mandarin version of its FTP hosting service in China. The British owned company launched the Chinese version of its service after having a presence in Hong Kong for a number of years and seeing the growth of the market.
Maytech provides data storage and file transfer solutions for UK and US businesses operating in China, plans to win new business direct from local Chinese companies with this new launch.
Antony Freeman, CEO of Maytech explains: "We feel there is obviously huge potential in China for new business and we want to sell directly into that market. None of our competitors are there and although countries like the UK and the US are still in a downturn, the Chinese economy is booming.
"We already get good sales from firms doing business in China through our server centre in Hong Kong, and we do have a small number of Chinese customers. We see this as a real opportunity to expand into mainland China and the launch of the new website will help raise our profile there."
The new service, which is exactly the same as the English version, except in Mandarin, has been live since mid-June and Maytech is working hard to push it up the rankings of the Chinese equivalent of Google, called Baidu.
Freeman explains that Maytech has never had any problems with the Chinese authorities doing business online, despite news reports and stories on the internet of censorship on the web. "There is a lot of talk about the Great Firewall of China, but we have not had any problems doing business online," he commented.
"Internet links work fine within China, but as soon as you go to an outside website based in somewhere like the USA, it becomes much slower, but that is because of the distance. As a solution we set up a relay in Hong Kong which works as a halfway point, making links much faster. That suits our customers inside and outside of China."
