Building Dedicated to Honorable Thomas White Jr.
Late Queens Councilman Remembered and Honored
New York, NY, January 18, 2016 (Newswire.com) - The Thomas White Jr. Foundation renamed its’ building in honor of founder and president the late Councilman Thomas White Jr. of the 28th Council District of New York City. The dedication of the building which is located in Southeast Queens symbolizes the commitment and advocacy that Tom White fought for throughout his public service.
Councilman White was well respected in the city council and in the community he served, until is passing in August 2010. The event was attended by local elected officials such as Assemblywoman Vivian E. Cook, State Senator Leroy Comrie, and City Council member I. Daneek Miller. Ms. Cook mentioned Tom as a friend and how they worked together to make Southeast Queens a better place for all who live there.

We'll provide computer learning courses for our seniors and tutorial classes for our youth through our computer lab. This is a public learning site that will address life issues, such as drug addiction, unemployment, health and wellness…., this is what my father stood for."

State Senator Leroy Comrie spoke about his early days in the City Council and how Councilman White helped him make the transaction into his office. Both worked close to bring resources and services into Southeast Queens.
Tom White was also the Executive Director and Co-Founder of the Queens Village Committee for Mental Health for J-CAP Programs. There were testimonies given how through Tom White family members were able to get help due to drug addiction and how their lives were saved.
