BBC news calls the event a 'global phenomenon'. In a nutshell, the jam is 48-hour marathon, uniting game enthusiasts around the idea of collaboration.
Bulgaria joins in during 2014
There are great specialists in the field of web design and programming in Bulgaria, and well developed gaming community. The idea behind the event is to get together a mix of people with different backgrounds, interests and skills, and motivate them to work together on an idea - to plan and execute the concept within 48 hours. Just for the sake of the challenge!
The event is open to anyone interested in video games - professional, students or just people with talent. It will get together some of the most innovative, creative and talented minds of Bulgaria.
What happens during Sofia Game Jam?
It begins on Friday, 24.01.2014 at 12.00 HRS with registration at Betahaus. From 14.00 to 17.00 there will be casual talks from our special guests from the game industry - informative and insightful, they will be a spark of inspiration for the participants. The talks will cover core areas of game making, such as graphic design and animation (Ubisoft), technical recommendations (Unity Software) and the game industry as business. For the first Global Game Jam in Bulgaria, we have invited special guest - lecturers from France, Denmark, USA and Bulgaria. The event will be live streamed globally to the other Global Game Jam locations.
Companies such as Ubisoft, Gameloft, Imperia Online, Playstation and the local betahaus, are already backing Sofia Game Jam.
