Bureau of Internet Accessibility Offers Free Digital Compliance Analysis
The 18-year-old company offers a graded website report to website owners who are concerned with meeting mobile and web accessibility compliance requirements
EAST GREENWICH, R.I., July 22, 2019 (Newswire.com) - The Bureau of Internet Accessibility (BoIA.org) is offering a Free Website Compliance Analysis scan to website owners. Internet accessibility laws and legislation exist to ensure that the internet is accessible to everyone. Maintaining digital compliance is imperative for anyone conducting business online and BoIA aims to help customers every step along the way.
“Accessibility is not optional for your websites, apps and kiosks. It is a requirement under federal laws, like the ADA. Non-compliance leaves your company liable to user-driven lawsuits. But, more than reducing legal liability, prioritizing accessibility is the right thing to do,” explains Mark Shapiro, founder and president of the Bureau of Internet Accessibility.
At no cost to the consumer, a graded report will be generated using BoIA's proprietary A11Y® platform. This report will give users a detailed summary of how their website fares against WCAG 2.1 A/AA checkpoints.
The core mission of the Bureau of Internet Accessibility is to make internet accessibility a reality for everyone. With thousands of clients under its belt and experience dating back to 2001, the BoIA team of over 150 accessibility professionals makes certain that a thorough and complete job is performed for clients.
As the internet has grown over the years, so has the digital divide in accessibility. The Bureau of Internet Accessibility helps clients shorten and eventually eliminate that divide by rectifying digital accessibility issues.
Business owners' websites or mobile applications may be susceptible to complaints or ADA demand letters from the Department of Justice if found to not offer equal access based on the WCAG 2.1 guidelines. Having a WCAG 2.1 A/AA accessibility audit performed on a website or mobile application provides companies or organizations with a game plan to address any current issues and prevent any further violations.
The Bureau of Internet Accessibility is at the forefront of assisting organizations and companies with achieving compliance with laws like the ADA and Section 508 through adhering to WCAG 2.1 A/AA. With the numerous resources available, it is no secret that BoIA offers a wealth of information with respect to accessibility remediation. Among the resources BoIA offers:
Color Contrast Accessibility Validator - The contrast between text color and background color can be a concern for those with disabilities. This free tool provided by BoIA helps ensure fair accessibility for those who are colorblind.
WCAG A/AA Principles & Checkpoints - There are 50 checkpoints categorized by four principles that any website, mobile application, kiosk and even PDF document should follow. BoIA summarizes these checkpoints.
Website Accessibility Checklist - This downloadable checklist can be used to help any website follow proper accessibility guidelines.
Mobile Accessibility Checklist - This is another great downloadable checklist that can be used to help mobile apps fall in line with proper mobile accessibility guidelines.
It can be difficult for a company or organization to try and cut through the red tape that exists with ADA compliance, regulation and logistics. BoIA employs testing experts who take a hands-on, manual approach to accessibility testing. Many of their experts have one or more impairments or disabilities, which allows a real-world approach to accessibility testing.
In addition to assessments and compliance testing, BoIA also offers training for a company’s staff and personnel. This training will help companies or organizations develop websites, content, software and more that all follow proper WCAG 2.1 A/AA compliance and accessibility regulations.
If a business has already received an ADA demand letter, BoIA offers full remediation support with experts ready to walk through any issues that need to be addressed in order to avoid an accessibility lawsuit.
Additionally, BoIA will assist in the development and placement of an accessibility statement to let users know that the process of becoming properly WCAG 2.1 A/AA compliant is underway.
Mark Shapiro says that website compliance can also be a smart financial move for a business, “More than one billion persons with disabilities are not your customers because they cannot consume the content on your website. These include, but are not limited to those with physical, vision and hearing challenges and military veterans.”
Accessibility compliance is the law but, more importantly, it's also the right thing to do. The Bureau of Internet Accessibility is a leader in its field.
