Burnham Resources Advises Employers about Real Time Information and Employment Allowance

Real Time Information (RTI) is a relatively new key government programme, which aims to help improve the process of the Pay As You Earn (PAYE) system by making it less burdensome for both HRMC and employers to administer and by using more up to date taxpayer records. This system was piloted by volunteer employers and research from the end of the 2012-2013 tax paying year showed highly positive feedback. Whilst the essentials of PAYE have stayed the same, employers and pension providers are now mandated to send PAYE information to HRMC each time they pay their employers, rather than at the end of the tax year. The main benefit of RTI is that it will mean more people pay on time and pay the right amount of tax and National Insurance. 

Employers Allowance (EA) is another system that HM Revenue & Customs (HMRC), have recently put into place which came into effect in April 2014. It provides eligible employers with a reduction in their National Insurance Contributions (NIC) of up to £2,000. However, it is only available to businesses, charities and amateur sports clubs. Domestic employers and public sector employers are not eligible, whose work is fully or partly of a public nature.
