Business-Building Boot Camp to be Offered at Six Flags Magic Mountain for Teenage Entrepreneurs
"Teens Cash Coach" Patti Handy to Lead Entrepreneurial Workshop This January
Online, December 19, 2009 (Newswire.com) - Valencia, California: This January, teenage entrepreneurs in Southern California will have a chance to be coached through starting their own business.
The four-week boot camp "A Millionaire in the Making: The Biz Building Boot Camp for Teens!" meeting Mondays at Six Flags Magic Mountain will teach participants how to create a business they will enjoy that utilizes their talents, skills, and interests.
Participants will design a simple business plan; design flyers, business cards, and a website; learn how to market themselves; develop lead-generating offers; and learn money skills and wealth-building strategies that will help them manage the proceeds of their business wisely.
The boot camp will be lead by Teens Cash Coach, Patti Handy.
"I came from a very large family that talked a lot about money and I had money smarts from a very young age," Handy said. "This has helped me my entire life and helped me get through some difficult times. It has brought me a sense of calm to be money savvy and know what to do with money."
Patti Handy is the author of How to Ditch Your Allowance and be Richer than Your Parents, a book she dedicated to her son and published as a tool for teens seeking to become more knowledgeable about what to do with money.
"Parents want their kids to be money savvy," Handy said. "This is a life skill that cannot be overlooked, but people often don't know how to talk about it."
The event was inspired by Handy's son.
"He's 13 and too young to have a job but old enough to work," Handy said. "He's created a dog walking service and is doing quite well with it. This business boot camp is a fun, interactive, program where we're going to build businesses so that when teens walk out the door, they will be able to make cash almost immediately."
The business boot camp is geared for teens ages 13 to 17 that are motivated and open to ideas.
"They don't need to be strong at anything in particular academically, but they need to come with a desire to better themselves," Handy said. "They shouldn't be there just because their parents made them."
The boot camp will be held at the Six Flags Magic Mountain administrative offices, on four consecutive Mondays, from January 18, 2010 to February 8, 2010. The cost is $247 per person for the full four weeks. Each session will last for 90 minutes. All participants will also be put on a priority hiring list at Six Flags Magic Mountain.
