BWIR Honors Innovating Talents at DesignACE 2011

Online, September 26, 2011 (Newswire.com) - Design ACE 2011, South India's biggest Engineering Design Contest, an initiative by Barry Wehmiller International Resources concluded in Chennai, today. 10 innovative projects from enthusiastic engineering students across Tamil Nadu, Andhra Pradesh, Kerala and Karnataka were short listed from the 200 + enteries to contest for the top awards at DesignACE 2011 for a total sum of Rs. 75,000 as prize money. Sree Sastha Institute of engineering and technology bagged the first prize.

In the ceremony, US Consul General Jennifer McIntyre along with other national & international juries, honored the winners who had toiled for a month to bring out the most creative and thoughtful projects. The finalists presented solutions to the real time engineering problems that were presented to them. The presentations were carefully judged for the innovation and accuracy by a panel of well renowned judges which included Mr. Hric Christopher Business Development Manager for US, Barry Wehmiller International Resources was the industrial jury. Apart from him the other eminent judges included Ms. Marie Planchard, Director Worldwide Education Marketing, Solidworks Inc. and Dr. P.V. Mohanram - Head of Mechanical Engineering Department, PSG College, Coimbatore.

Apart from the winners, 10 more promising winners who participated and won in the quiz challenge that was conducted on spot. The winners were awarded a weeklong scholarship programme at CADD centre on 3D CADD. Ms. Marie Planchard, Director of World Education Markets for DS SolidWorks Corp inspired the students with her workshop on 'Design Inspiration, Design Intent & Job Ready Skills."

Impressed with the interesting & innovative concepts at the finale of Design ACE 2011, Mr. Vasant Bennett, President and Managing Partner, Barry Wehmiller International Resources said, "We are truly happy to see such creative and intelligent young engineers. The winners were awarded a cash prize of 30,000/- The first and second runners up were given 25,000/- and 20,000/- cash prize respectively along with a paid internship at BWIR India. The icing on the cake was the surprise announcement which won the top five teams job offers from BWIR - India. The lucky audiences also got a One-week 3D design course from CADD Centre
