California Skin Institute Partners with Iagnosis to Provide Telemedicine Platform for Online Dermatology Treatment in CA

Teledermatology service increases access to health care specialists for California residents with concerns or conditions that require a prescription by accepting user-submitted photographs on a HIPAA- and HITECH-compliant website.

California residents can now consult with a board-certified dermatologist at the California Skin Institute online, without visiting one of their 24 offices. California Skin Institute collaborated with Iagnosis, a leading technology provider of online dermatology solutions, to launch a teledermatology platform that mirrors a typical in-office visit. Patients simply need a camera or smartphone and access to the Internet.

This innovative solution connects both new and existing California Skin Institute patients to one of the company’s board-certified dermatologists who can diagnose over 3,000 skin, hair and nail conditions virtually. The platform will help patients access a dermatologist and receive a diagnosis, personalized treatment plan and appropriate prescriptions without losing time away from work or other activities.

Telemedicine proves to be a great option if a patient has a concern about a skin growth or they need a prescription for common conditions like acne or eczema.

“We hope to partner with many large employers in the area to offer this convenient access to high-quality dermatology care as part of employee wellness,” said Dr. Greg Morganroth, Founder and CEO of California Skin Institute. “It’s a great fit for both employees and employers -- early detection and intervention for skin cancer and skin diseases without compromising employee productivity.”

Dr. Morganroth’s dedication to excellence has made California Skin Institute the largest private dermatology practice in the state.

“We strive to make specialty care accessible and convenient,” said Dr. Morganroth. “Telemedicine proves to be a great option if a patient has a concern about a skin growth or they need a prescription for common conditions like acne or eczema.  Should someone need follow-up care or need to be seen face-to-face, the patient will receive a priority appointment in one of our offices.  California Skin Institute is committed to patient excellence using the most advanced technology.”

Iagnosis, the company responsible for the creation of the technology, has been treating patients online for several years through its flagship teledermatology product, DermatologistOnCall. The platform requires no software installation for patients or providers while still maintaining HIPAA and HITECH compliance.

“Through this partnership, Iagnosis will help California residents safely receive high-quality care when it’s most convenient for them,” said Iagnosis CEO David Zynn. “This is a great partnership as both California Skin Institute and Iagnosis share an unwavering commitment to excellence in both patient care and innovation.”

The virtual practice of dermatologic care (teledermatology) is supported by the American Academy of Dermatologists as an innovative means of improving access to board-certified dermatologists to provide high-quality care. The Iagnosis teledermatology service meets and exceeds all the criteria the Academy deems necessary to provide quality patient care.
