With 28 years dedicated to law, Curtis​ brings a wealth of knowledge to his industry, and in particular to his area of specialization, elder law. When asked what inspired him to pursue this specialization, Curtis​ said:

"I started out doing tax litigation at the Department of Justice, and then a significant amount of estate planning work, but ultimately migrated toward elder law and special needs trust work. What we do is help seniors get settled in care centers. It's extremely rewarding work when you have a husband and wife walk in in their eighties when, typically, they’ve reached that point in their life where one of them has to go to a care center and they’re very emotionally distraught. What we do is walk them through that process from A to Z. As I got to understand the process, I fell in love with it. Instead of arguing about fine provisions of the tax code, or engaging in litigation, here we have an opportunity to proactively help people."

As a thought-leader in his industry, Curtis has his finger on the pulse of trends in his industry. He noted:

Curtis currently runs his own law office in Salt Lake City, Utah. He also serves as the program chair for the annual “Utah Elder Law, Estate Planning and Medicaid Planning” seminar, held each fall in Salt Lake City.
