Cambridge Classic Ford Has The Top Safety Pick 2012 Ford Focus Available

The 2012 Ford Focus recently received the IIHS Top Safety Pick. Focus accomplished this using new technology and innovative material, and is now available at Cambridge Classic Ford.

Safety, once an afterthought of most car manufacturers and consumers, is now one of the most sought after features in a car. That focus on safety puts Ford in a great position, as the new 2012 Ford Focus became one of 12 Ford cars to receive a Top Safety Pick from the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety. The 2012 Ford Focus has also arrived at Cambridge Classic Ford.

To receive a Top Safety Pick, a vehicle must receive a rating of "good" in offset frontal-, side- and rear-impact tests, roof strength evaluation, and must possess electronic stability control. The 2012 Ford Focus managed to pass all of these tests by using a combination of technology and advanced materials. This starts with making an ultra rigid frame using 55% high strength steels, 33% of which is ultra strong boron steel. This is the most boron steel used in a Ford model to date. Despite the large amounts of steel used, Ford engineering has managed to keep weights low to allow for maximum performance.

In addition to top of the line materials, technology has played a large role in the increase in safety, as Ford has run over 12,000 tests, both in simulation and with real cars. The Focus also features upgraded seatbelts and airbags that deploy with a small pocket that helps cushion the driver's chest and ribs in a frontal crash. Ford also includes a number of standard safety features, such as AdvanceTrac® Electronic Stability Control, SecuriLock® passive anti-theft system, SOS Post-Crash Alert System™, and a Tire Pressure Monitoring System (TPMS).

These features, in addition to making the car safer, have allowed the Ford Focus to receive a five star safety rating, the maximum rating, from the European NCAP. The combination of safety and performance is one of the reasons the Ford Focus is quickly becoming one of Ford's top sellers. April Sales of the 2012 Focus rose 22% to 17,265 cars from the previous month. This car is now being offered at Cambridge Classic Ford in Cambridge, Ohio.
