Cannabis Tourism - Oregon's New Cash Crop?
Oregon Legislature Clears The Way For Recreational Cannabis Users.
Portland, Oregon, September 29, 2015 (Newswire.com) - Thanks to the Oregon Legislature headed by its recently installed Governor Kate Brown, starting October 1, 2015, cannabis dispensaries will begin selling cannabis products, including select grade flower, into the Oregon adult recreational-use market.
“Like most people in our State, Chalice Farms, LLC supports the Oregon Legislature’s decision to allow licensed medical dispensaries to serve adult recreational clients before OLCC licensing begins,” said Chalice Farms Founder and President, William E. Simpson III.
On July 28th, Gov. Kate Brown signed Senate Bill 460 into law and as of October 1, 2015 recreational-users who are 21-yrs. and older can purchase as much as a quarter-ounce of marijuana flower per day at local Oregon dispensaries.
In a recent New York Times article, Simpson said that, “Oregon is lucky in its position and timing, to be able to see what-was and was-not working.”
What has concerned some people is that, the demand for cannabis products by the large market of recreational-use consumers, combined with the low-price and high-quality of Oregon-grown cannabis, could potentially create shortfalls of available product at some dispensaries, making it difficult for medical-users to obtain the cannabis that they need.
Chalice Farms, which received $10-million in investment capital, one of the largest infusions of capital into any cannabis venture nationally, has built an entire supply-chain and distribution base under one umbrella. “This transition will in no-way impact how we serve our current patients and customers. Chalice Farms, LLC is a fully vertically integrated cannabis production and distribution business, which makes us uniquely suited to provide outstanding products and service to both markets concurrently; seamlessly and efficiently,” said Mike Genevese Chalice’s Vice President.
