Online, June 17, 2010 (Newswire.com) - New web-based network provides support for organisations affected by mandatory green legislation
A new knowledge bank and business networking site for organisations affected by new environmental legislation is now live.
The Carbon Reduction Community (CRCommunity) is designed for
nearly 20,000 UK organisations impacted by the Carbon Reduction Commitment Energy Efficiency Scheme (CRC), the new mandatory emissions trading scheme which began in April this year.
The CRC affects all organisations that are supplied with electricity by a settled half-hourly meter. Some 5,000 companies and public bodies with electricity bills of over £500,000 a year will be 'full participants'.
Failure to comply with the scheme has serious consequences, including punitive fines or imprisonment.
The CRC is seen by many as a financial burden. However, the CRCommunity believes it can be an opportunity to reduce bills, create Corporate Social Responsibility publicity through the transparent performance league table, and recover greater revenues from the scheme than you were required to advance.
However, many organisations are confused as to what is required of them. The CRCommunity network exists to provide members with all the information and support required - without having to purchase expensive advice from professional firms.
CRCommunity is an independent business networking site built on two key foundations:
The CRC Knowledge Bank - regularly updated, this will include everything an organisation needs to implement the CRC and gain the benefits
The Community - private networks and groups of like-minded individuals who can share ideas, best practice and information and are supported by CRCommunity's Partners, including Smith & Williamson and Hill Hofstetter LLP - experts in areas such as Finance, Tax, Carbon Footprinting and Energy Measurement and Solutions.
Registration costs £495 a year.
Scott Carter spearheads the network. "Those that take time to prepare and plan for the implementation of CRC will the ones that get the greatest benefit out of it. We feel that our site offers one stop source for all relevant information and a cost effective alternative to expensive consultancy," he said.
"The CRCommunity is unique in that it's a completely independent way to share best practice and gain all the ideas, information and support a proactive company could need."
