Career Incubator Connects High School Students With Corporate World

All Stars Helping Kids connects its corporate partners with local high school students to place under-served youth on the path to professional success.

All Stars Helping Kids is proud to report its second Career Incubator Day of 2010 was a resounding success. After holding the event in Queens, New York during the summer, All Stars brought the signature program back to the Bay Area for students from Eastside College Prep and KIPP San Jose Collegiate. Taking place on Saturday, October 23rd at Eastside Prep in East Palo Alto, the event brought together over 115 high-achieving high schools students from under-served communities. The program featured 14 interactive sessions, each 50 minutes in length, led by representatives from All Stars' corporate partners.

After selecting seminars according to their own professional interests, students had the chance to interact with industry professionals in an engaging and intimate setting. This time around, students heard from Franklin Templeton, DreamWorks, UCSF Children's Hospital, Hewlett Packard, First Republic Bank, Cisco Systems, Burr Pilger & Mayer, SolarTech, friend.ly, Current TV, SC Consulting, Lockheed Martin, Tinker Co. and Credit-Suisse. Moreover, Senior Vice President of PG&E, Nancy McFadden, gave the keynote address over lunch.

This event was made possible through generous financial contributions from Franklin Templeton Investments and Burr Pilger & Mayer as well as donations of time, thought, and energy from each of the speakers. A handful of lucky students also received free laptop computers and Flip Video Cameras courtesy of donations from Hewlett Packard and Cisco.
