CareMonkey Raises $1.5 Million in Seed Funding to Automate School Processes Through a Digital Forms Platform

CareMonkey, an online system which helps schools streamline their paper workflow processes with a digital forms platform, announced today that it has raised $1.5 million dollars ($2.2 million AUD) in seed funding. The funding round was led by Peter Bencivenga alongside New Ground Ventures and Rethink Education.

CareMonkey, which has scaled to over 500 schools in Australia, will deploy the capital to accelerate growth in the U.S. and U.K. markets and to expand its product offering to help school districts better manage their day-to-day paperwork and forms.

“We want our teachers and school administrators to be academic innovators for their students, but they currently spend a large portion of their time dealing with paperwork. CareMonkey can dramatically lower this paperwork burden and help teachers spend more time on teaching and curriculum development,” said Bencivenga. Bencivenga has been an innovator in the educational technology industry since 2008 and has joined the company as its president with a focus on U.S. and U.K. expansion.

In Australia, CareMonkey is the leading software platform to help schools go paperless. Parents use the system to respond to forms for field trips, payments, medical updates, policy updates, parent-teacher conferences and other consents. Schools and districts use the system for managing administrative workflows such as streamlining staff approvals, tutoring registrations, supply request, fee reimbursement, professional development tracking, asset management, technology repair and school maintenance management.

CareMonkey supports school leaders that have increasing amounts of administrative duties added to their workloads each week. “Principals tell me how much time they save every day now that their paper workload has been digitized and automated, and they appreciate the cost-saving benefits such as no more paper, toner and postage,” said Troy Westley, the CEO of CareMonkey. “Our mission is to help make school processes more efficient so schools can focus on students, not paperwork.”

CareMonkey is the Slush Global Pitch 2015 winner, Talent Unleashed Grand Prize winner and IT Invention Test Competition winner.
