In recognition of Carruth Cellars' one-year anniversary of operation in Solana Beach, the winery will be hosting a community art installation fundraising project during October 19 through 22, 2011 at their facility located at 320 South Cedros Avenue, Suite 400 in Solana Beach. The winery has commissioned international mosaic artist Laurel True of True Mosaics Studio based in New Orleans to install a mosaic mural at Carruth Cellars. The public in invited to view the installation or try their hand at inlaying mosaic tiles during the hours of 10:00 am to 4:00 pm Wednesday through Saturday. The festivities include a fundraising component that will benefit the Mosaic Artwork Fund for Mirebalais Hospital in Haiti, under the public health organization Partners in Health and True's umbrella entity, "The Global Mosaic Project". Highlights of the weeklong event include: a special performance by pianist Robert Parker on Thursday, October 20th; an educational lecture by Laurel True titled, "The Power of Art: Building Creative Capital Through Community Mosaics", with wine tasting on the evening of Friday, October 21st from 5:30 pm to 7:30 pm at the winery and culminating in a formal dedication ceremony on Saturday, October 22nd at 4:00 pm. Ceramic tile for the mural has been donated by Heath Ceramic Tile and additional project sponsor is 320 South Cedros LLC. The installation is endorsed by the Cedros Design District Association and the Solana Beach Chamber of Commerce.

According to Adam Carruth, owner of Carruth Cellars, "We're tremendously honored to include Laurel in our community art installation event that will beautify our facility as well as the greater Solana Beach community. Her projects span the globe with visually inspiring mosaic motifs that also serve to enhance the lives of many people. Her upcoming mosaic projects for Mirebalais Hospital in Haiti will bring community-based public art to a state-of-the-art hospital being built by Partners In Health. The Mosaic Artwork Fund For Mirebalais Hospital is steadily moving toward its fundraising goal and we hope to make a significant impact on fulfilling the objective of bringing art of this caliber to those with limited access." True is the co-founder of the Institute of Mosaic Art in Oakland, CA and specializes in public and architectural mosaic projects. Her community-based projects are focused in urban and developing communities to foster arts education and entrepreneurship both in and out of the classroom. Her work has been featured at the Sundance Film Festival and can be seen throughout the U.S., as well as Kenya, Ghana, Mexico and Haiti. For additional information, visit www.truemosaics.com.
