CBORD® Announces UGC 2016 Excellence Award Finalists

CBORD® announced their 2016 Excellence Awards nominees and finalists to several organizations and individuals for its upcoming 37th annual User Group Conference to be held in Hollywood, Florida, October 16–19, 2016. The prestigious award program celebrates operational excellence, leadership, and innovation in three categories: One CBORDVisionary, and Above & Beyond.

One CBORD Award

The One CBORD Award celebrates an organization that strategically integrates CBORD and industry adjacent systems to support the overall mission of their organization. Finalists in this category include the following:

Mackenzie Health Hospital, Richmond Hill, Ontario for being the first Canadian-based site to implement Room Service Choice® with a Gordon Food Service interface which has significantly improved efficiency in labor and accuracy—reducing errors by limiting manual intervention for repetitive tasks.

Aurora Health Care, Milwaukee, Wisconsin for effectively standardizing, organizing, and streamlining the utilization of CBORD systems across their 15-hospital system. The standardization within Aurora Health Care has provided accountability, boosted sales, and improved the patient and customer experience.

William Paterson University, Wayne, New Jersey for refining the student experience by using a suite of CBORD cashless systems that unify their nearly 11,000 undergraduate students and 1,500 full- and part-time employees.

Visionary Award

The Visionary Award recognizes an organization that is a pioneer in developing creative applications for CBORD technology within their organization. Finalists in this category include the following:

HealthShare New South Wales Health, New South Wales, Australia for their strategic deployment of CBORD systems to reinforce food service delivery models by using reports and data analytics to enhance efficiency and achieve major cost savings throughout their 150 hospitals.

University of San Francisco, San Francisco, California for their insightful and energetic contributions to new and existing CBORD system enhancements, as well as contributing to the contributing to the beta testing of CBORD Campus Security Monitor™, CS Gold® 7 beta testing, and NDE lock testing.

University of Missouri, Columbus, Missouri for working with the Harry S. Truman School of Public Affairs and the Department of Industrial and Manufacturing Systems Engineering by providing Foodservice Suite® data pertaining to food waste within campus dining operations. Additionally, they provided data surrounding the pre- and post-consumer mass by food category and embodied greenhouse gas emissions estimations.

Above & Beyond Award

The Above & Beyond Award goes to an individual who has demonstrated a willingness to evaluate and provide user-led feedback on new products and technology; conduct beta tests; and/or has been a valuable resource by sharing their unique knowledge, experience, and results with the larger user community. Finalists in this category include the following:

Gaston Arellano, Barry University, Miami, Florida for his pursuits in providing an optimal student experience by utilizing Odyssey to automate alerts, implement contactless card readers, and housing/card system integration for meal plan selections.

Julie Wesel, Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University, Blacksburg, Virginia for her dedication as a member of the CBORD Strategy Council and assistance with beta testing CS Gold 7. Julie has an active role in product development, specifically within the access control realm, where her input is incredibly valuable to CBORD's product development.

Lisa Dominguez, Flagstaff Medical Center, Flagstaff, Arizona for creating a more efficient kitchen trayline through the use of custom tray tickets, creating custom allergy traits, and building global preferences which are automatically generated when patients order certain foods.

Additional Excellence Award nominees are David Angel, University of Texas at Arlington; Jason Rossi, University of San Francisco; Patti Murdock, Virginia Commonwealth University; Sally Baugues, Purdue University; State University of New York College at Buffalo, Campus Dining & Shops; and William Paterson University.

The 2016 award recipients will be announced at CBORD's User Group Conference during the Gala Dinner on Monday, October 17, in Hollywood, Florida.
