India & Russia had always shared a special relationship with each other, since the days of World War II. To further strengthen and cement the bond Routes 2 Roots Delhi Base NGO along with Art Center Bereg an NGO in Russia, and Embassy of India in Russia and Embassy of Russia in India, DFF (Director of Film Festivals) , Indian Embassy and ICCR (Indian Council for Cultural Relations) Celebrated 65 years of diplomatic relations between India & Russia from 13th to 22nd April in Russia.

Shri S.M. Krishna Indian external minister, LAVROV Sergey Viktorovich external minister of Russia along with Mr. Ajai Malhotra Indian Ambassador to Russia, Mr. Sergey Sobyamin Mayor of Moscow apart from other diplomats and distinguished guests witnessed the Film Festival celebrations at Russia From13th to 15th April at Moscow and from16th to 22nd April at St. Petersburg The famous NIZAMI BROTHER'S gave mesmerizing Qawali performance to enthrall the audience of Russia accompanied with "DERVESH" dancers. Eminent personalities of the Indian cinema like Sharman Joshi have also participated in the event and sharing the journey of Indian Cinema. The young & talented cinematographers from Indian Film Industry Ms. Jyoti Singh and Mr. Kaushik Chawla were delighted to meet students of film institute in Russia at Moscow and St. Petersburg.

As a part of India Film festival films like A Wednesday, 3 Idiots, Tare Zameer Par, Jodha Akbar, Ishqiya, Fashion, Wake Up Sid, Kannathil Mutha Mittal, Delhi-6, Jab We Met, Tarayanche Bait, Agneepath, Kabhi Alvida Na Kehna, I Hate Love Stories, Corporate subtitled in Russian language were shown to Russian audiences.

It is a Delhi based non-profit organization, constantly striving to bridge the socio-culture distances between India and across the world through music and art.

Shri S.M. Krishna graduated from Maharaja's College, Mysore, and went on to obtain a law degree from the Government Law College, Bangalore. Later he studied at the Southern Methodist University, Dallas, USA and also at George Washington University as a Fulbright scholar. He assumed charge as the External Affairs Minister on 23 May 2009

LAVROV Sergey Viktorovich graduated from the USSR Ministry of Foreign Affairs' Moscow State Institute of International Relations. Has command of English, French and Sinhalese. Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation since 2004.Has the rank of the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Russian Federation.

The ICCR was founded in 1950 by Maulana Abdul Azad, independent India's first Education Minister. The Council helps formulate and implement policies pertaining to india's external cultural relations, to foster mutual understanding India and other countries and to promote cultural exchanges with other people

About DFF (Directorate of Film Festivals):
Directorate of Film Festivals was set up by the Government of India in 1973 to organize International and National Film Festivals within the country. DFF facilitates India's participation in Festivals abroad, arrange programmes of foreign films in India and Indian films abroad and holds the National Film Awards function.
As a vehicle of Cultural Exchange, DFF promotes International friendship, provides access to new trends in world Cinema, generates healthy competition and, in the process, helps to improve the standards of Indian Films.
