Celebs & Drag Artist Help Community Rebound as Stay-Home Order Lifts and COVID Vaccines Roll Out

LOS ANGELES, February 1, 2021 (Newswire.com) - In a controversial move, Los Angeles is allowing all restaurants (adhering to CDC guidelines) to resume outdoor-dining as the average daily rate of new COVID-19 infections has dipped to around 5,000 - a number that previously warranted citywide stay-at-home orders. Never deterred by controversy nor pandemic, popular drag artists within LGBTQ+ communities are combining their efforts to help Los Angeles rebound with an online fundraising show sponsored by Psycadella Facade, Jackette Knightley, and Kings and Queens for Causes called, "Love's Taken Over." The entirety of this star-studded, online charity event is filmed remotely and individually by its 20+ participants to create a Valentine's Toy Drive for Miller Children's Hospital and fundraiser to save safe spaces, like LA's Hamburger Mary's restaurants which are in danger of closing. Mary's restaurants have long been safe spaces for LGBTQ+ patrons to be entertained by drag artists prior to the ban on public performances and severe economic downturn. It presently provides festive fare served by Cohost, Big Deelish, Jewels Long Beach, Ms. Luna Simply Luna and Freddy Prinze Charming, who also star in the online charity show. 

Celebs join drag artists making special guest appearances throughout the Love's Taken Over charity event to highlight its importance and good works. Grammy and Emmy-winning entertainer Paula Abdul, Grammy-winning performer Leann Rimes, Grammy-winning rocker Melissa Etheridge, Oscar-winning actress Mira Sorvino, Emmy-winning makeup artist Glen Alen, Chynna Phillips-Baldwin, Eureka O'Hara and Shangela from HBO's We're Here, Queer Eye's Carson Kressley, American Idol's Todrick Hall, Latin phenom Paulina Rubio, and 10 RuPaul alum all drop in for this international happening.

The show's creator, Jackette Knightley, debuts her three new songs: Love's Taken Over, Love Me, and Set It Off. She also announces her new book, "The Ultimate DIY Queen, Jackette Knightley's LGBTQ+ and Drag to English Translations: Meanings in Life I Learned from Drag." The book offers insight into terms and topics of these worldwide communities; chronicles the significance of 2020's pre-existing social justice and civil unrest issues; and discusses their impact and ongoing need for resolution. The book, foreword by Glen Alen, contains endorsements from three additional Emmy-winning celebs. Proceeds from music and book sales go to the show's charities of choice throughout February.

This group performs exclusively online until the ban on live performances is lifted and CDC guidelines can safely recommend resuming large events with necessary precautions.
