Celriver Legacy Project; Public Fundraising Efforts Launch

Celriver Legacy Project; Public Fundraising Efforts Launch

The Celriver Legacy Project will be holding  an official announcement and unveiling of plans for the future Celriver Plaza on Wednesday, September 2nd, from 1:00-3:00 p.m. at the Brakefield at Riverwalk event center.

The Celriver Legacy Project has been developed to preserve the legacy of the Celanese Celriver facility. This facility previously encompassed the 1100 acres now being developed as the Riverwalk community.  The plan is to establish a permanent environmental plaza area situated in close proximity to the Velodrome, which will honor the men and women that worked at Celanese Celriver over the span of 60 years.  It will include artwork, interpretative signage, and a historical marker at the site of the former plant. The Celriver Legacy Plaza is intended to reflect back upon the historical impact of the facility and pay tribute to the Celanese Celriver employees’ significant contributions to the economic growth of the Rock Hill community. The project will continue this tradition of economic support by establishing a college scholarship fund intended to foster the growth of the community well into the future. This event is open to the public.

"The men and women of the Celriver Plant made tremendous contributions to the Rock Hill community. Our goal is to preserve the legacy of the people, their work and what they mean to our community, now and for generations to come." Ed Ewal

Ed Ewal , Former Plant Manager

Share in the vision of honoring the tremendous impact that the Celanese Celriver employees had on the community and celebrate the future contributions that will be made through the Celriver Legacy Project.
