CensusMan Arrives to Save People from Fines

New superhero spreads the word about 2011 Census and helps people avoid a fine

CENSUSMAN ARRIVES TO SAVE PEOPLE FROM FINES

Viral game specialists Koko Digital have launched their latest creation to raise awareness of the National Census.

The Office for National Statistics launched the 2011 Census for England and Wales in February, and commissioned the Staffordshire-based agency to put together a game to encourage more of the UK population to file their completed questionnaire online.

The result was CensusMan, starring a super hero who must fly around his neighbourhood, collecting citizens with questionnaires and dropping them off at the nearest post box - before his time runs out!

It is hoped the game, and its Facebook counterpart, will enable more people to file their answers before the March 27th deadline, and therefore avoid a fine.

Koko Digital Director Chris Steele said: "We had almost 40000 views in the first week since launch and are now rapidly approaching 250000 plays.

"It was a great project to work on and we hope it will lead to more public sector contracts in future."

Koko Digital was established by directors Chris Steele, Karl Bloor and Stuart Howarth in 2006 to create viral advergames and social media applications. They have worked with a number of blue-chip clients including Sony Music, Confused.com and Microsoft.
