Centennial Unveils 'Augmented Reality' App for Holiday Shoppers

First national mall company to launch augmented reality app experience
Centennial AR app

Centennial, a national owner of major shopping, dining, entertainment, and mixed-use destinations, has launched an innovative “augmented reality” (AR) experience this holiday season for its tech-savvy shoppers. Centennial AR, developed in partnership with immersive media studio Clever Fox, is a free mobile app that allows users to bring animated, virtual holiday characters to life and interact with them.

Available through the Apple App Store and Google Play, the Centennial AR app provides shoppers with something new to enjoy while taking a break from shopping or waiting in line for Santa. Its functionality allows easy interactivity for users and delivers exclusive access to the mall’s characters through their mobile devices. Users point the app’s camera at special character posters placed throughout Centennial Collection malls, and elves, snowmen, reindeer, and other holiday friends spring to life, from 2D to 3D, complete with music. The app also allows the users to place themselves within the digital world of AR by doubling as a camera to share photo and video with family and friends via social media.

We are thrilled to be the first to provide our shoppers with this unique app. Our team is constantly evaluating opportunities that support not only our shoppers but also our retailers and business partners. Developing programs such as this new app allows Centennial to remain at the forefront of our industry, all while offering our customers an enhanced in-center experience.

Steven Levin, CEO

At the cutting edge of integrating new technology into the shopping center experience, Centennial is the first national mall company in the United States to offer a nationwide augmented reality app experience.

“We are thrilled to be the first to provide our shoppers with this unique app,” says CEO Steven Levin. “Our team is constantly evaluating opportunities that support not only our shoppers but also our retailers and business partners. Developing programs such as this new app allows Centennial to remain at the forefront of our industry, all while offering our customers an enhanced in-center experience.”

Centennial will continue to seek innovative ways to enhance customer experience and drive more traffic for the success of their tenants. The goal is to continue creating immersive experiences within the mall space, regularly updating the app to include more AR interactions.
