Charlie Sheen's Brain Becomes New Travel Destination on Wanderfly.com, Along with 25+ Other Amazing, Newly Discovered Places
Online, March 31, 2011 (Newswire.com) - Wanderfly (http://www.wanderfly.com), a travel recommendation and inspiration site that strives to push travelers to always try new destinations, has unearthed over 25 amazing, yet-to-be discovered destinations. Through a team of researchers that combined the talents of Whim Quarterly and an in-house team of explorers, Wanderfly has unearthed tourism gems from all over the world, ranging from Kitty City, China and Charlie Sheen's Brain, Calif. to Jersey Shore, NJ and a previously unmapped time-traveling island in the South Pacific that NASA somehow missed.
Users will be given the opportunity to search for these special locations via a dedicated trip-theme button on Wanderfly's homepage, called "NEW DISCOVERIES!", and the destinations will also show up through random searches.
As with all Wanderfly destination recommendations, activities will be suggested as well. For example, in Charlie Sheen's Brain, Calif., travelers can take a stroll along the Tigerblood Canal, thinking about winning (#duh) all the while.
"For too long travel has gotten away with recommending the same destinations over and over again," says Wanderfly CEO Evan Schneyer. "But our team put travel in a figurative stranglehold - pushing it to such extremes that it was bound to reveal its deepest and most dormant secrets. We are happy to finally bring these destinations to the world."
Because of their incredibly varied nature, the new destinations accommodate every type of traveler and tourist. If travelers are into Gym, Tanning, and Laundry ("GTL" for short), there's Jersey Shore, NJ or for those seeking a truly quiet getaway, there's ADX Florence Correctional Facility in Colo., offering an all-inclusive resort away from all human contact and the worries (and addictions) of the outside world.
Other top new destinations include:
• Mares Gorduroso, Brazil - Travelers everywhere have always wondered what it would be like to contribute to the destruction of its rainforests. Well, now they can at this amazing new unsustainable tourism resort!
• Your Mom's House - Your mother has been asking you to help her on Microsoft Word for months, Jeffrey. Go home.
• ObeCity, USA - A huge swath of land that is home to huge amounts of huge people eating huge meals at huge buffets.
• Wild Wild West Virginia - Whoever said an amusement park in an abandoned underground mine with questionable infrastructure was a bad idea, must have been an idiot.
• Funky Town, USA - As soon as travelers arrive, they know what to do: get funky.
• Kitty City, China - Nestled in the mountains of Western Sichuan, Kitty City is a town full of cute little kittens. Everywhere you look: kittens.
• Charlie Sheen's Brain - Come and experience the wild unpredictability of this small town. You'll be living in luxury one moment and then thrown into an uncontrollable rage the next.
• Islands in the Stream, Dubai - A man-made archipelago in the shape of Kenny Rogers and Dolly Parton, duet partners on the 1983 hit song which inspired the islands' name.
• 123 Sesame Street, PA - The most heinously adorable (yet utterly terrifying) place on the planet.
• Gorkton, PA - Come celebrate the good side of war at the site of the least important Civil War battle ever, where no one died and nothing happened.
• Mayberry, NC - Whistling tunes and hilarious misunderstandings define this adorable small Southern town.
"We challenge any traveler to find even a single destination that can compare to these unearthed gems," says Wanderfly co-founder Christy Liu. "Paris? London? Cleveland? With respect to the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, they all pale in comparison to such places as ObeCity, Funkytown, and Your Mom's House."
The destinations promise to offer a new kind of experiential travel, a type of experience that scientists once believed could only be achieved through virtual reality.
"Sure, you can look at paintings, sculptures, and other outdated forms of learning about history," says Wanderfly co-founder Cezary Pietrzak. "Or, you can experience history as it's happening by engaging in the payment of debts, offering of protection, and building your 'influence' in the seedy underground of Baltimore, like in the show The Wire. That's what travel is all about. That is what we're dedicated to serving up for our users."
