"Christmas For Haiti" Donates 50 Pocket-Sized Water Purifiers To Haitian Ministries Christmas Eve

Former City of Chicago Department of Water Management Filtration Engineer takes step onto the global stage to help the fight against Cholera with innovative new Pocketpure Water Purifier Invention.

When Whitney Young (HS) graduate and senior class president, George Page Jr. left a stable job with the Department of Water Management, during the height of the recession, to follow his his childhood dream of inventing he understood it was a bold move. But an earlier experience at NASA-JPL, had solidified his path. "After working as an intern on the Mars Pathfinder prototype during the summer of 1995, I promised myself that one day I would become an Inventor". Fifteen years later, having worked 6 years as a Chemical Engineer and 9 years as a Filtration Engineer with the City of Chicago
Department of Water Management, Page made good on his promise. Page resigned late last year to work on his first invention entitled "Compartmentalized cooling tube".

The Earthquake that hit Haiti on January 12th, 2010, changed Mr. Page's path. Compelled by the footage of the earthquake, Page recalls watching a demonstration in the use of Water Purification Tablets. "A collection vessel to collect river water, a spoon
to stir the purification tablet, a t-shirt or cloth filter, and an additional vessel to pour the collecting water into-there had to be an easier way to effectively mix and filter water using water purification tablets". After an exhaustive patent search, Page formed Chicago-based Portapure Inc, to research a compact, easier way to use water purification tablets.

Nearly one year later, after 11 prototypes, 8 months of laboratory analyses and 3 patent filings, Portapure is launching its first product; Pocketpure. Based on Page's patent-pending technology, Pocketpure is a pocket-sized water purifier that expands to collect up to 30 ounces of water from any river or stream, efficiently mix any water purification tablet without the need for batteries, and allow for user-supplied suction filtration to remove sediment and odors.

This week Portapure is commemorating the launch of Pocketpure, (which retails for less than $20) by donating 50 Pocketpure water purifiers to Haiti. Page will be visiting Haiti Christmas Eve and partnering with Light Ministries, a re-building organization in
Haiti, to deliver Pocketpure. Pocketpure will be donated to aid in the effort to help fight the spread of cholera within its most effected victims, orphaned Haitian children.
