Louis Mateus, recently Technical Director for US Soccer and currently Under 14 Boys National Team Assistant Coach has been accepted the position of Executive Director and Head Coach and Director of the Magic's highly competitive USSF Development Academy. Coach Mateus has been an awarded, high level coach and player in this country after arriving from San Miguel, Portugal when he was 15 years old.

In addition the Magic also added a top player and coach from the professional ranks to joining the club, Martin Vasquez, most recently Head Coach of Chivas USA of the MLS. He will serve as Technical Director and bring a new level of competency and professionalism to the group, already rich in a strong coaching staff and success on the fields.

"I'm excited to be a part of one of the most successful soccer clubs in the country", said Mateus. " The Chicago Magic future is bright, due to the quality of our players, highly skilled staff and excellent facilities. "We will continue to forge a path in player development, college & professional opportunities and international partnerships."

With indoor and outdoor facilities in the Frankfort, Highland Park, Plainfield, and Naperville areas including the College of Dupage practice and stadium complex, the Magic has established a top flight national program with specialized local attention, offering its players a range of competitive options including an exclusive USSF Development Academy program for U16 and U18 Boys.

"The Magic has the players, personnel, facilities, professional partners and support to become a new national model or standard", offered Vasquez. " It is refreshing to work with the best in young talent and offer the things I have been fortunate enough to gain in my years as a player and coach at several levels". Magic President Tom Rubio added, "we could not be more fortunate to have Louis and Martin join us this year. They have a great rapport with the coaches and players and will offer the best in organizational skills off the field and quality of play on the field we could find. The teams are a joy to watch and as members and supporters we are all thrilled to have them aboard."

In addition the Magic has forged partnerships with top professional teams and their organizations in Europe and Mexico to allow for free exchange of and training for the coaching staff and playing opportunities for players pursuing a professional career or a desire to school and play overseas. Tigres UNAL and a soon to be disclosed continental European team are reported to in the offering. A first in the US to pursue this dual partner structure in a formal, active relationship, the Magic is plowing new ground for the sport in the US. "We feel we are very well positioned to do things others have not done to date in this country, and with the growing list of private and corporate support for the club as well as the quality of our players and families, we think the opportunity is ours to explore as we move forward" said Mateus in closing. "The staff in hand and other top level additions you will see in the future will give us the means to get there as a club. Our indoor and outdoor facilities platform and the latest addition of Nike as our tournament, apparel and gear sponsor are all key strategic assets for us as a club. Everyone is excited about the rest of this year as we head into state and national competitions and look forward to a fast approaching 2011/12 season."
