Award-Winning Restaurants Bring Back the Wings with Fourth Annual
Battle for Big Eaters
GILBERT, AZ - Native New Yorker, the sports-themed family restaurant franchise, has announced the launch of the 2011 Battle of the Bone, the fourth annual contest in which contestants attempt to top each other by eating the restaurant's famed chicken wings. Subsequent contests are running every Wednesday at different Native New Yorker locations. Each weekly location winner will advance to the Battle of the Bone Finale, to be held at Talking Stick Resort on Saturday, August 20th.
Native New Yorker's 2011 Battle of the Bone event will feature sponsors Valley Toyota Dealers of Arizona, Budweiser, Arizona Diamondbacks and The Fan AM 1060. The contest winner will receive a Grand Prize of a 2011 Toyota Tundra valued at approximately $30,000 from Valley Toyota Dealers of Arizona. The second prize winner will receive Arizona Diamondbacks season tickets in the Lower Level for the 2012 season, valued at over $4,000.
Contestants will have 10 minutes and 60 seconds -- a nod to sponsor 1060AM -- to eat as many wings as possible. Wings are weighed prior to the start of the contest, and again at the end of the allotted time. The person with the highest weight eaten is the winner of the contest. The medium-flavored wings will be provided to the contestants in 3-pound platters, and are to be weighed after they are cooked and sauced.
Contestants for the Native New Yorker 2011 Battle of the Bone can register for the contest at www.battleofthebone4.com where an updated list of contest dates and locations can also be found. Up to 30 entrants per location will be accepted, and will be chosen based on age qualifications, as well as on a first come, first served basis. Entrants must be 21 or older, and the contest is open to amateurs only. An entry fee of $20 is required in advanced or $25 on contest night, and a portion of the proceeds will go to the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation International. Only six more weeks to qualify.
