Christmas.com Leaks the 2012 'Naughty or Nice' List for the World's Top Brands

The Official Site of Christmas™ Uses Twitter Data to Determine Who is Naughty and Who is Nice: Coke vs. Pepsi - Apple vs. Samsung - Microsoft vs. Google - and 50+ more.

Christmas.com, the Official Site of Christmas™, released today the results of its 2012 Best of Brands analysis and has determined which brands are nice and which are naughty. The Christmas.com high-tech Naughty or Nice List, which uses consumer sentiment mined from public Twitter comments, has been released one-week in advance of US Black Friday sales to help consumers in their Christmas shopping and gift-buying research.

"Christmas.com makes Christmas easier for consumers," said John Lyotier of Christmas.com. "We make it easier to find gifts, make it easier to plan for the holidays, and we make it easier to share with family and friends. However, we also wanted to share insight into consumer sentiment for many of the world's leading brands. We felt that by releasing this data, consumers will be better prepared for the fast-approaching Christmas season."

Headlining the 2012 list of 'nicest' brands were Mercedes-Benz, IKEA, IBM, and Budweiser. Comcast, T-Mobile, Verizon, and American Airlines brought up the rear and were considered the 'naughtiest'. Data for the list was gathered in the first two weeks of November 2012 and analyzed using a technology called Sentiment Analysis applied against the Twitter big pipe of data. For the 2012 analysis, 68 brands were studied.

Among the findings of this year's list: Coca-Cola was nicer than Pepsi (81% vs. 65%); Samsung was nicer than Apple (66% vs. 57%); Google was nicer than Microsoft (70% vs. 53%); and UPS was nicer than FedEx (71% to 47%).
