Church of Scientology Celebrates a Decade of Expansion Under the Leadership of David Miscavige
Los Angeles, California, November 25, 2015 (Newswire.com) - The Church of Scientology has seen impressive growth over the last 10 years under the leadership of David Miscavige, Chairman of the Board, Religious Technology Center. The church has seen more growth in the last 10 years than in the previous 50 combined and has 11,000 churches and groups that reach across the globe. In addition, Scientology has opened 40 Ideal Churches spanning five continents since 2004.
This month marks the two year anniversary of the church’s unveiling and dedication of its landmark Flag cathedral in Clearwater, Florida. Seen as an architectural and technical triumph, Scientologists feel the expansive spiritual headquarters is the ultimate setting to realize Founder L. Ron Hubbard’s vision for a better world.
"Scientology's Flag Building is a place of learning, a place of wisdom and a place of spiritual freedom transcending any known realm."
Luis Gonzalez, Church of Scientology
“Scientology’s Flag Building is a place of learning, a place of wisdom and a place of spiritual freedom transcending any known realm,” says Luis Gonzalez, Church of Scientology. “It is a place where Scientologists can now realize L. Ron Hubbard’s vision for a better world at a level of quality commensurate with the technology itself.”
Scientology is one of the fastest-growing religious movements across the globe and is expanding more rapidly today than at any time in its history. The church is a model of leading-edge self-sufficiency with a two all-digital, state-of-the-art publishing houses in addition to a world class printing and production facility. In addition, Scientology has a media hub and broadcast center that is set to open in the heart of Los Angeles later this year. There are also more than 70 new churches and centers in various stages of design, development and construction that soon will join the ever-increasing Scientology family.
More than just a religion, Scientology has a focus on several humanitarian issues including spearheading and sponsoring of the biggest anti-drug programs in the world. L. Ron Hubbard’s research in the field of drug addiction and recovery has brought unparalleled drug rehabilitation solutions to the field. His research galvanized the church and Scientologists to eradicate drug abuse through education. The Scientology-supported Truth About Drugs is a secular program that has worked for more than two decades to empower millions of people with the truth about drugs.
In addition, the Church of Scientology has distributed multimedia material to educate and raise awareness of human rights issues to more than 100 million individuals worldwide each year. Youth for Human Rights International, a group supported by Scientologists, created the booklet, What are Human Rights?, which contains a fully illustrated version of the United Nations Universal Declaration of Human Rights and helps to make human rights understandable for youth. Close to 300,000 copies of the booklet are distributed each year in 17 languages through 310 international chapters across 70 countries.
Human rights information and action kits are another component of the educational resources available. With Church of Scientology support, Youth for Human Rights International and United for Human Rights have provided more than 137,000 such kits to human rights groups, educators and government agencies. These award-winning educational materials have catalyzed a grass-roots movement of human rights advocates whose influence is now felt in nearly every corner of the world.
Celebrating unprecedented growth, the Church of Scientology invites the public to tour its Flag Building in Clearwater and learn more about the church, its teaching and global humanitarian work. For more information, visit ScientologyNews.org.
