Church of Scientology Seattle World Civil Defense Day Forum
A World Civil Defense Day Forum will be held March 2 at the Church of Scientology Seattle
Seattle, WA, February 28, 2016 (Newswire.com) - David Shannon, Emergency Preparedness Training Manager for Department of Social and Health Services (DSHS), and Dave Scattergood, director of Churches of Scientology Disaster Response, will be the featured speakers at a forum and open house celebrating World Civil Defense Day March 2 at the Church of Scientology, 300 W. Harrison St. The forum focuses on raising awareness of preparedness, prevention and self-protection in the event of accidents or disasters.
World Civil Defense Day was created by decision of the International Civil Defense Organization (ICDO) General Assembly in 1990, and is celebrated every year on the 1st of March.
"This Day… has two main purposes: that of bringing to the attention of the world public the vital importance of Civil Protection and of raising awareness of the preparedness for, and prevention and self-protection measures in the event of accidents or disasters; and that of paying tribute to the efforts, sacrifices and accomplishments of all the national services responsible for the fight against disasters."

The Scientology Volunteer Ministers have emerged as one of the world's largest independent relief forces serving in times of disaster, great and small. In addition to helping at the sites of hundreds of natural and manmade disasters, they also respond to those disasters that don’t make the headlines: in homes and schoolrooms, businesses and neighborhoods.
They are on call on a 24/7 international Volunteer Minister Hotline, 1 (800) 435-7498.
Anyone who wishes to do something to improve conditions around them may become a Volunteer Minister by learning the simple technology through online training provided free of charge on the Scientology Volunteer Ministers website.
