Cisco Rebrands Its Collaborations Under A Cloud Platform

Online, July 5, 2012 (Newswire.com) - During the Enterprise 2.0 conference that took place recently in Boston, Cisco Systems announced that its new cloud based version of social collaboration software will be available in the American market from the month of July. The product was unveiled by the company during the conference and has rebranded it under the name of Cisco WebEx Social from Cisco Quad so as to bring the entire Cisco collaborative business apps under one umbrella. According to the sources, this product will include myriad features so as to persuade people to adapt to the latest methods of working to offer flawless and integrated user experience.

During an interview with the Press, the Vice President of Product Management, Raj Gossain said that this new update in its software will enable the company to reach a higher number of audiences across the globe and will popularize the company in the global market. He also said that with the advancement of technology, the demand for cloud based tools is growing; hence the company's efforts to bring its social collaborative tools to the cloud platform will definitely gain some popularity among its new prospects. Gossain also added that Cisco WebEx Social is easy and quick to install and the customers can avail it in the market as a web service.

Zeus Kerravala, an IT analyst notes that this cloud based offering by Cisco will now enable the company to compete against the social collaboration tools offered by companies like, Microsoft, Jive Software, Novell, Yammer, IBM and others.

However, the firm also announced that it has incorporated WebEx Social with Microsoft Office so that users can edit, post updates, documents, presentation, spreadsheets etc along with using Microsoft word, excel and PowerPoint.

Further adding to this, Cisco has also updated its WebEx Social clients for iPhone and iPad by allowing them to make a shift from social networking to real-time IM, enabling online conferencing and voice calls directly from their mobile devices.
