City of Delray Beach Proclaims National Tourism Week

May 7-15 has been recognized as National Travel and Tourism Week by Delray Chamber of Commerce

The Greater Delray Beach Chamber of Commerce (GDBCC) has issued a proclamation declaring May 7-15, 2011 as National Travel & Tourism Week in Delray Beach. The Chamber is joining with the Delray Beach Marketing Cooperative in promoting this national activity.
The Board of Directors at their meeting on April 27th, issued the proclamation following a presentation by the Delray Beach Marketing Cooperative.

The Cooperative presented information including facts, programs and successes outlining the tourism in the Delray Beach area. Sarah Martin, Executive Director of the Cooperative, commented, "Tourism matters to the nation's economic prosperity and its image abroad, to business wealth and to individual travelers. Travel is among the largest private-sector employers in the United States, supporting 14.1 million jobs in 2010, including 7.4 million directly in the travel industry and 6.7 million in other industries."

Meetings, events, and incentive travel are core business functions that help companies strengthen business performance-averaging a return on investment of $12.50 in profits and $3.80 in revenue for every dollar spent on corporate travel. Travel is a catalyst that moves the National Economy forward.
