Civil Air Patrol is Prepared To Aid In An Emergency
Florida Wing members from Broward and Palm Beach Counties' Group Six will be taking advantage of specialized training in March to hone their search and rescue skills.
Online, February 15, 2010 (Newswire.com) - Pompano Beach, FL - The Civil Air Patrol (CAP) is the volunteer auxiliary of the United States Air Force and its duties include homeland security, disaster relief and counterdrug missions. It is also known for its premier cadet leadership programs and aerospace education for teens. In order to be effective in an emergency CAP provides continuous training to its 60,000 members across the nation.
Florida Wing members from Broward and Palm Beach Counties' Group Six will be taking advantage of specialized training in March to hone their skills. The Field Training Exercise will allow members to train in search and rescue techniques both on the ground and in the air. "We must constantly maintain and update our skills so that we are prepared to assist in any type of emergency when called upon by our state or nation," stated the Incident Commander, Staff Sergeant Rick Besaw.
Besides getting the practical experience responding to an incident, members attending the training build camaraderie, meet members from other squadrons, and have the opportunity to build on the leadership skills.
"Our field training exercises are our chance to further build and test our skills at responding to emergency situations such as an overdue aircraft or when a hurricane wreaks havoc and disaster relief is required. Thanks to the efforts of these dedicated volunteers we remain ready to respond when called upon by any number of government agencies." stated Captain Benjamin Dickmann, the Group 6 Emergency Services Officer.
