The Glass Bubble Project, a glass blowing studio co-op in Ohio City, has announced the creation of the Cleveland Artists' Activo, a non-formal group dedicated to giving back to the community that has supported them for the past twelve years.

The newly formed group has applied to the Cleveland Foundation for a $3,600 grant to teach glass-blowing and life-skills to 16 under-advantaged vocational high school students. The six-week after-school program will be loosely based on reality TV shows in that the 16 selected students will be thrown into the fire of the everyday life of a successful commercial glass artist.

We'll learn on October 25th whether the Foundation will fund this venture. Meanwhile, you can learn more about the official proposal, including rationale, goals, fiscal agent, etc. by visiting the Glass Bubble Project website at http://www.glassbubbleproject.com or by e-mailing [email protected] .
