Cleveland Homeless Shelter Teams with Local Businesses for School Supplies Drive
Online, August 19, 2011 (Newswire.com) - The City Mission is helping its needy families with a school supplies drive for the upcoming fall semester. Each year, the Christian organization collects school supplies to help hundreds of area children from needy families go back to school. These children may not otherwise have the supplies they need to have a successful year in school.
While donations are accepted year-round, they are especially appreciated during the back-to-school season. Needs rise during July and August, as children typically head back to school during the months of August and September.
Along with The City Mission's main campus and Laura's Home campus, area businesses including Best Buy stores, Automotive Specialty Services and Firefly's Mini Golf are serving as Cleveland donation collection sites for the school supplies drive. The City Mission is looking for items such as 2-pocket folders, single-subject spiral notebooks, pencils, pens (10-packs in black, blue or red), rulers, pencil cases or boxes, loose-leaf notebook paper, erasers, markers, crayons, colored pencils, scissors, glue sticks or bottles of glue, protractors, flash cards and backpacks in solid colors (suitable for boys or girls). The City Mission is also looking for gently used school shoes or gift cards to be used to purchase new shoes, gift cards to purchase new school uniforms, socks and underwear.
The City Mission is a non-profit organization dedicated to providing services and programs to support those in need and help them transition during difficult times.
