Cloudnine, a leading provider of maternity and infant care launched its second centre here at Old Airport Road in the city of Bangalore. The centre was inaugurated by Chief Minister D V Sadananda Gowda. Declaring Karnataka's intent to promote Bangalore as the Health Tourism hub, Chief Minister D V Sadananda Gowda exhorted the private sector hospitals to join hands with the state government to attract international health tourists.

"We are keen on transforming Bangalore into a hub of Health Tourism. We need the support of hospitals, such as Cloudnine, which are bringing the latest medical technology to the city and its people," said Gowda after a guided tour of the newly-opened centre on Old Airport Road.

Congratulating Cloudnine for successfully delivering more than 10,000 babies at their first centre, Mr. Gowda said the number's must cross 1,00,000 mark through the second centre. "I convey my best wishes to Cloudnine in their endeavor to offer the best of the services in this sector. They should continue their good work for the benefit of society," he added.

Echoing the CM's views, Karnataka's Home & Transport Minister R Ashoka, who was the guest of honor, pointed out that several patients from Pakistan were getting treated in Bangalore "We have to reach a stage wherein we have patients from the US and other developed nations. We are keen on promoting Bangalore as the hub of Health tourism," he said.

When Mr. Ashoka was the Health Minister earlier, he was instrumental in securing a loan of Rs 500 crore from the World Bank to transform Bangalore into the capital of health tourism. "We are planning several initiatives for the health sector. We want the 'Vajpayee Arogyasiri Yojane' to reach every deserving person in the state. We expect the assistance of private hospitals in implementing it effectively," noted Mr. Ashoka, who incidentally, had inaugurated the Cloudnine centre in Jayanagar.

The new centre has a total built-up area of 50,000 square feet with an estimated investment of Rs 20 Crores. The centre has 30 luxury rooms and 4 signature suite rooms amongst a whole host of new services such as the Baby Aquarium, Interactive Digital Play Area and other such innovations. There are separate designated areas for Obstetrics, Gynecology and Pediatrics consultations as Cloudnine believes each is a specialty field where guests require undivided attention.

Commenting on the launching of the new centre, Dr. Kishore Kumar, CEO & MD, Cloudnine, said, "It gives me a great pleasure TODAY more than 5 years ago when we started our JOURNEY in India in Bangalore - by opening our FIRST centre in Jayanagar, Bangalore with LOTS of DREAMS and PASSION and trying to convince people that we are NOT another maternity hospital but a BETTER MOTHER & BABY CENTRE where dreams are delivered! Today I can boast that with our COMPREHENSIVE Maternal & neonatal care, we have delivered more than 10,000 babies so far without losing a single mother (the way it should be) - meaning ZERO percent maternal mortality and also have saved lot of babies as premature as 24 weeks and as heavy as 500 gms - who otherwise would have become part of statistics in India with a survival rate of 99.83% - which is one of the best in the world. So after having achieved this fete - NOW we are in a better position to convince others that we are NOT just another hospital - because we provide HOME like SAFE environment for our NEW mothers - who shouldn't be in a hospital either! Hence we are SHARING our joy by extending our services to another part of Bangalore so that more families are benefited. The opening of this centre on Old Airport Road is in line with our countrywide expansion plan, which we will roll out in a phased manner."

The new facility has several interesting features. Apart from feeding room and nappy changing area, the new facility has taken into account the medical nuances in designing, such as the Neonatal lounge area, separate vaccine area, baby weighing area, high grade 4d ultra sonograpghy, dedicate emergency division for mothers and babies, the country's first transparent NICU of Level V with over 20 beds and a separate space for high risk babies.

The Kids interactive area is of special mention as children can play games when parents are waiting for consultations. There is also spacious parent craft area for the very popular Cloudnine Management of Baby Affairs (MBA) to be conducted for would-be parents every month along with a host of fitness classes like yoga, aerobics, and post natal classes.

Dr. Arvind Shenoi, Neonatologist & Pediatrician and Medical Director of the Centre, remarked, "It gives me immense pleasure that we have officially launched the second and one of the most important centers of Cloudnine. It has always been my privilege to treat children, including very small and premature ones. Cloudnine offers an environment where such high technology care can be given in pleasant and soothing surroundings to even the smallest of these infants. For older children too it is a place of fun where we talk of health not sickness."

Other interesting services offered at the new centre are: Special boutique photo studio by Meri Yaadein, a chain of speciality photo experience studios where family and pregnancy portraits can be taken, Au Bon Pain, International bakery cafe, Mom and Me retail store for all baby and pregnancy utility needs, a Unique Mother and Baby Pharmacy and a modern multi cuisine cafeteria.
