Cloudsoft Featured in Independent Research Firm's Report on Elastic Application Platforms

Monterey Platform Included as a Provider of Application Mobility and Scalable Architecture Designed to Maximize Cloud Deployments

Cloudsoft Corporation, a provider of cloud computing software and services that drive Intelligent Application Mobility, today announced that it has been included in Forrester Research Inc's recent report, "Cloud Computing Brings Demand for Elastic Application Platforms." The report examines the emergence of elastic application platforms that are being deployed to remove barriers and help organizations realize the measurable benefits of cloud computing.

According to the report, most enterprise application architectures are not designed to fully exploit the advantages of cloud computing. As a result, firms cannot fully maximize return on investment and completely achieve the high availability, performance and scale possible with the cloud. To meet these challenges, companies are beginning to embrace elastic application platforms (EAPs), defined by Forrester as an application platform that automates elasticity of application transactions, services, and data, delivering high availability and performance using elastic resources.. EAPs can be distributed across multiple machines, locations or clouds and fosters development without the hindrance of these prior constraints.

In short, Forrester Research Inc. observes, "EAPs will make it normal for enterprise developers to deliver elastic applications - something that is decidedly not the norm today."

Cloudsoft is included in the report as an elastic middleware specialist, "providing important pieces of elastic application platforms." Cloudsoft's Monterey platform provides an overlay network to virtualize transactional application architectures, automate deployments by policy to a variety of clouds and help application development and delivery teams adapt existing applications to take advantage of elastic scaling. Monterey delivers "Intelligent Application Mobility" which enables application segments to move independently and near-instantly to anywhere across a distributed infrastructure. This facilitates near-instant scalability and adaptability in the application tier, thereby creating an Elastic Processing Fabric.

"This report demonstrates the challenges enterprises face today in their move to the cloud, and highlights the emerging technologies available that can address them now," said Duncan Johnston Watt, CEO of Cloudsoft. "Companies today need a comprehensive platform that delivers an open approach to elastic applications while simplifying developer's ability to capitalize on cloud architectures. Monterey allows users to transparently scale transactional business applications by dynamically sharding and distributing them across servers, locations or clouds, with zero impact on service. By deploying this type of elastic application platform, customers can create an agile framework that decreases development costs, improves real-time scalability and tees up enterprises to exploit future cloud strategies."
