CMC Energy Awarded Water Conservation Contract With City of Philadelphia

CMC Will Deliver Water Conservation Lessons & Lower Bills

CMC Energy Services, a leading provider of program solutions for utility companies, government agencies and nonprofit organizations, has been chosen to implement a water conservation program for customers of Philadelphia Water.

CMC will perform water audits, provide education and install water-saving measures in 1,500 homes annually through the city-owned utility’s Low Income Customer Assistance Program (LICAP). The program is designed to reduce water usage by 25 percent in each home treated and to help customers afford their water bill.

"We are grateful to accept this award especially because the goals of Philadelphia Water mirror our own mission," says Eileen McGinnis. "We have nearly four decades of experience working to provide successful programs that result in energy efficiency and water conservation. We have excelled in this area and will provide the residents of Philadelphia with the best available options to become more aware of water conservation."

Employing its state-of-the-art Energy Reduction Management System, CMC will leverage its decades of experience collecting, managing and analyzing utility data to help Philadelphia Water evaluate the program and its components.

As part of the service, which is free to qualified Philadelphia Water customers, CMC also will help customers identify and apply for additional aid programs available to help them afford the necessities of life.

“We are grateful to accept this award especially because the goals of Philadelphia Water mirror our own mission,” says CMC President Eileen McGinnis. “We have nearly four decades of experience working to provide successful programs that result in energy efficiency and water conservation. We have excelled in this area and will provide the residents of Philadelphia with the best available options to become more aware of water conservation.”

LICAP is part of a comprehensive package of services and programs designed to ensure that Philadelphia Water continues to deliver high-quality water and sewer services to its customers while enhancing the region’s watersheds and quality of life. The program starts with a home audit, which often identifies infrastructure weakness such as leaking water pipes and faucets, and includes water usage education for the household.
