Codex Releases New Analysis "Apple vs the CIO; Can the iPhone break Blackberry's
Stranglehold on the Business Market?"

In this white paper, Codex explores and debunks the widely held view that the iPhone will always play second fiddle in large enterprises to the Blackberry.

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Boston, USA and London, UK - 16th February 2010

Following the widespread coverage of Codex's recent analysis on the Apple iPad, Codex has released a white paper entitled "Apple vs. the CIO" focusing on how the iPhone and iPad can dethrone RIM's Blackberry as the mobile champion in large enterprises due to the following factors:

- The iPhone is already on track to dominate the consumer market. Over half of the western economy comprises of small businesses who don't share the concerns of CIO's, and who are more likely to follow consumer behaviour and buying patterns.
The Blackberry is a dual purpose device (phone and messaging), whereas the iPhone has an increasingly impressive range of business apps, and are now receiving significant attention and advertising dollars from Apple.
- The direct and indirect costs of RIM's Blackberry Enterprise Server will concern increasingly cost conscious IT departments. Anecdotal evidence suggests that US software companies are leading the charge in migrating to the iPhone.
The Apple iPad will find its way into the nooks and crannies of innovative enterprises with its unique form factor and accessible software development kit. This trend will further entrench Apple's iPhone and iPad OS into the enterprise.

"Businesses are recognising that a solid mobile strategy is about more than just sending emails while on the move", said Alexander Bartfeld, Director and co-founder of Codex Development Ltd., "CIO's are looking not just to reach customers in innovative ways, but also offer employees productivity enhancing tools. For these business apps, the Blackberry simply does not compete."
