Mental Health Issues in Children And Their Impact Upon The Collaborative Process
With Bill Helmeczi, Med, Msc

Twenty percent of children have a mental health problem and ten percent an anxiety disorder. The impact of divorce exacerbates existing mental health problems and can complicate the Collaborative process. Both professionals and parents can enhance the Collaborative process when they are provided with specific mental health education and
communication strategies.

The Invisible Children: Bringing The Voices of Adult Children Into The Collaborative Process
With Lauren Behrman, Phd., Allison Bell, Phd.

The voices of children are essential in Collaborative Practice. Unique issues are raised when divorcing families include adult children, for whom there are no parenting plans or access schedules. Tuning into the input of the adult children empowers Collaborative process and healing of the family system.

Collaborative Law Practice Group founder Laurie Poppe is a member of International Alliance of Collaborative Professionals (IACP) and is active in her education on the subjects of collaborative divorce, collaborative mediation and collaborative practice. While a practicing NJ divorce lawyer, Poppe's main focus has been on the use of the collaborative process as a healing tool rather than a dividing one for couples in the state of New Jersey.

"As a collaborative law professional in the state of New Jersey, it is important to be as up to date as possible when it comes to knowing the ins and out of this budding way of handling divorce. The IACP Conference is one of the strongest ways to network with other collaborative law professionals and to stay educated. "
- Laurie Poppe, founder of Collaborative Law Practice Group.

About Collaborative Law Practice Group
Focusing on collaborative divorce, CLPG guides couples and families through the difficult divorce process. The heart of Collaborative Practice or Collaborative Divorce (also called "no-court divorce," "divorce with dignity," "peaceful divorce") is to offer couples the support, protection, and guidance of lawyers without going to court. Additionally, Collaborative Divorce allows for the benefit of child and financial specialists, divorce coaches and other professionals all working together cohesively.
CLPG offers a new way to resolve disputes respectfully - without going to court.

How CLPG Can Help
Not all cases are appropriate for collaboration. Poppe has successfully brought many issues before the court by way of motions or trial. However, Poppe supports and believes that most cases/issues can be resolved via this process. Whether or not a couple's divorce is appropriate for the collaborative method of resolution, Poppe encourages any questions or concerns to be brought to CLPG.
