College Career Services in the Cloud Will Serve Domestic and International Students

Don Philabaum, President and CEO of Internet Strategies Group, co-founder of TalentMarks and author of The Employed Grad shares his tremendous insight about the role of parents, career services and students in the hunt for post-graduation employment.

Don Philabaum, President and CEO of Internet Strategies Group, co-founder of TalentMarks and author of The Employed Grad joins Michael Waxman-Lenz, founder and CEO of Intead in an informative conversation about the role of parents, career services and students in the hunt for post-graduation employment. While institutions have been committed to educating students and helping them to earn a degree, they have not historically served the role of educating students on how to successfully find a job post-graduation. Through his 30 years experience in higher education and particularly his work the last several years with college career centers, Mr Philabaum has developed a comprehensive set of strategies for parents and institutions to use to better position students for post-graduation employment.

Mr. Philabaum is particularly interested in the untapped potential of alumni associations. Few institutions are adequately utilizing one of their greatest resources, their alumni. There are many ways institutions could become more instrumental in leveraging employment prospects for graduating students.

Well employed graduates can help an institution to distinguish itself in the market. For both domestic and international student recruitment gainfully employed graduates can become the great differentiator. Therefore it is in all institutions' best interest to promote initiatives that will help students to find employment.

Mr. Philabaum stresses the importance of the career center in the cloud which allows the career center's changing role to move from the Leave it to Beaver era to the Jetsons. He explains how the career center in the cloud would work and why this is beneficial today.
