Colonel W.G. Bonvouloir's Newly Released 'The Army Air Corps: Branch Immaterial' is a Personal Memoir of a Man Who Did His Duty in Service to His Country

'The Army Air Corps: Branch Immaterial: A World War II Memoir' from Christian Faith Publishing by author Colonel W.G. Bonvouloir is a moving account of a man who received greetings from the government in 1941 and thus joined the mission to build an Air Force.

“The Army Air Corps: Branch Immaterial: A World War II Memoir”: a touching memoir of a man and his personal story at the beginning of WWII when men were pulled from all branches of the Army and designated ‘Branch Immaterial’ in the Air Corps. They were tasked with growing the Army Air Corps into the U.S. Air Force.”

Branch Immaterial” is the story of how they did this. After the war, Bonvouloir returned to Midland, Michigan and dabbled in real estate. He spent over twenty years as a professional fundraiser for non-profit organizations and retired to Sun City, Arizona where he pursued volunteer projects and remained active with the Luke Air Force retirees. He died on Christmas Day 1995.

His daughter, Virginia Bonvouloir Philippy shares, “Dad received greetings from the government in August 1941. He said to our mother, ‘Nancy, don’t worry. I’m thirty-six, married with three children, and I’m overweight. They won’t take me.’”

Surprise! They have raised the weight limit for thirty-six-year-olds.

‘You’re in. Congratulations, Captain.’ So begins the saga of his WWII experience.

“He always maintained that ‘Those who stand and wait also serve.’ This exemplified our mom. She stood and waited and raised three young girls, served with the GI Joe wives and kept the home fires burning. Dad wasn’t present physically, but he was always there. Mom made sure we knew that.”

Published by Christian Faith Publishing, Colonel W.G. Bonvouloir’s new book is a stirring and captivating life diary that tells about those who accomplished great things when the chips were down and about those who did something that would be impossible today. It tells us about the men who did, indeed, accomplish their mission.
