Mt. San Rafael Becomes One of the First Ready to Meet MU Stage 3 Objectives

MEDHOST®, a provider of innovative healthcare solutions is pleased to announce that Mt. San Rafael, a critical access rural hospital in Trinidad, Colorado has met the requirements to successfully attest for Meaningful Use Stage 3 objectives in 2017. The facility is expected to be one of the first in the country to attest for Stage 3 when The Centers of Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) starts accepting attestations in January 2018.*

Mt. San Rafael utilizes MEDHOST's suite of 2015 Edition Meaningful Use certified products,[1] which includes MEDHOST Clinicals, MEDHOST Financials, Business Intelligence Solution, Patient Portal, and YourCareEverywhere Consumer Engagement Solution.

The state of the digital transformation of Mt. San Rafael Hospital over the past few years has been truly humbling and amazing, Mt. San Rafael has worked hard to be ready to attest in January 2018 for Meaningful Use Stage 3, and I am very proud of our continued commitment to meeting regulatory requirements early.

Michael Archuleta, Director of Information Technology Services and HIPAA & Information Security Officer at Mt. San Rafael Hospital

Meaningful Use Stage 3 was always optional in 2017 and was scheduled to become required for hospitals starting in 2018. In September, CMS delayed the required start until January 2019. Despite the opportunity to delay Stage 3 implementation, Mount San Rafael stayed committed to meeting Stage 3 objectives in 2017 providing encouragement to other hospitals who are just starting to implement the new technology and workflows.

“The state of the digital transformation of Mt. San Rafael Hospital over the past few years has been truly humbling and amazing, Mt. San Rafael has worked hard to be ready to attest in January 2018 for Meaningful Use Stage 3, and I am very proud of our continued commitment to meeting regulatory requirements early,” said Michael Archuleta, Director of Information Technology Services and HIPAA & Information Security Officer at Mt. San Rafael Hospital. “Meeting Meaningful Use is challenging and takes overwhelming commitment from the entire organization. Workflow redesign, clinical documentation improvement, and training are just the beginning, and using the system in a meaningful way throughout the organization is the key to success in providing exceptional quality and safety of patient care. Commitment from the Mt. San Rafael Board of Directors and Administration combined with the strong collaboration with physicians, nurses, clinical staff, Information Technology Services, and our business partnership with MEDHOST have made Mt. San Rafael Hospital a leader in utilizing technology to improve care in our community. We are very proud to have met all Meaningful Stage 3 requirements that are necessary for attestation.”

“Earlier this year, MEDHOST was one of the first to certify their products for 2015 Edition for use with Meaningful Use Stage 3. MEDHOST customers have always been dedicated to meeting the requirements for Meaningful Use,” said Steve Starkey, Executive Vice President Product at MEDHOST. “Their willingness to be early adopters and put the appropriate time into these initiatives is a key to their success. MEDHOST is proud to have a partner like Mt. San Rafael who is showing hospitals throughout the country that Stage 3 is achievable.”
